5Ks has successfully completed the installation and commissioning of a state-of-the-art Submarine Surface Navigation Simulator (SSNS) for an Asian Navy, further strengthening its position as a leading provider of advanced naval simulation and training solutions.

The newly commissioned simulator delivers an exceptionally realistic and immersive training environment, designed to enhance submarine crew proficiency in surface navigation, ship handling, bridge coordination and operational procedures under a wide range of environmental and weather conditions.

At the heart of the system is a full-scale conning tower mock-up, equipped with navigation instrument repeaters, specially developed virtual binoculars, searchlight and signalling and integrated communication systems. The conning tower is surrounded by an impressive high-resolution 4K projection theatre covering more than 330 degrees, using 4K projectors to reproduce a highly realistic maritime environment.
The immersive visual system allows crews to experience demanding operational scenarios, including coastal navigation, restricted waters, heavy maritime traffic, reduced visibility, night operations, SAR and emergency situations, harbor approach and docking with tugboats assistance and much more, providing a level of realism particularly valuable for submarine surface navigation and maneuvering training.

The main simulator is complemented by an integrated submarine control room compartment, housing the helmsman and steering control station together with a fully equipped navigation station featuring real ECDIS on plotting table ECDIS, RADAR ARPA, Navaids AIS, DGPS, INS, EPIRB RDF, internal ands external comms and a simulated optronic periscope. This arrangement enables realistic interaction and coordination between personnel operating in the conning tower and those stationed inside the submarine.

A dedicated Instructor Control Station (ICS) provides comprehensive real-time management of the simulation, allowing instructors to configure scenarios, control environmental and traffic conditions, introduce operational challenges and monitor trainee performance. The same station also serves as a briefing and debriefing facility, supporting structured training and performance assessment.

One of the distinguishing features of this project is the complete in-house development and integration carried out by 5Ks. From the simulation software to the design and manufacture of specialized hardware, including operator consoles and virtual binoculars, as well as the engineering, installation and calibration of the complex projection system, the entire solution has been conceived, developed and implemented by 5Ks.
This fully integrated approach ensures seamless interaction between all simulator components, high levels of customization and a training solution specifically tailored to the operational requirements of the customer.
With this successful commissioning, 5Ks once again confirms its position as OEM among the leading companies in the specialized naval simulation market.
As one of the very few highly sophisticated submarine surface navigation simulators of its kind worldwide, this new installation further demonstrating 5Ks’ unique expertise and its ability to design, develop and deliver complex, fully integrated naval simulation solutions entirely based on its own technologies and engineering capabilities.
